Olympics!

My sister and I LOVE watching the Olympics together.  We were so happy that Mandy and Scott were able to take time away from their busy schedules to come up to Boston to visit and watch some of the Olympics together.  Mandy got us all matching Olympic t-shirts (Mikey has been wearing his ALL WEEKEND---3 days in a row now) and Mikey and I made a festive cake!  Friday and Saturday night we spent watching the Opening Ceremony (yawn!) and some of the events.  Saturday during the day we hung out by the pool.  Unfortunately the heavy rain washed away our hopes for a BBQ dinner at night but we made the best of it and had a great time.  On Sunday when it was time to go, Mikey climbed into the backseat of Scott's car and said "Bye Mommy!".  He was ready to go home with the Roth's!  He was so sad and cried when they pulled away.  :(

Thanks for coming guys!  See you in 2 weeks!

Visit with Grandma

Grandma Anita came to visit!  She took the train on Monday and Grandpa "Bob" came later in the week when he was done with work on Friday.  Mikey and Grandma had a great time together.  They literally played with EVERYTHING in the house.  They played cars, painted Mikey's dinosaurs, colored, read books, I could go on and on.  They also spent a lot of time at the pool.  Mikey showed Grandma all of his tricks---glides, jumping in from the side, blowing bubbles, even his twist and turn moves!  They were pretty much attached to the hip for a week!  Mikey even introduced "Gramma" (as he pronounces Grandma) to Eva, Margeaux (his speech pathologist) and the girls that work at My Gym.  This week he also got another big boy haircut.  He just gets more handsome by the day!

Thanks so much for coming to visit with us, Grandma and Grandpa.  We all really enjoyed your visit and were sad to see you leave.  The next day Mikey asked "Where'd Gramma go?" ALL DAY LONG.  I know we are both looking forward to our visit in New Jersey in a few weeks.  Thanks again!

The rain didn't stop Grandma and Mikey from playing baseball!  They played in the garage--complete with running the bases, too!

Weekend with the Casey's

The Casey's came back to town for their annual summer visit with the addition of 6 week old baby Kevin!  Friday we spent the afternoon and evening hanging out by the pool and had a BBQ for dinner.  The weather was perfect and it was so great to catch up.  Saturday morning Mikey and I met Erin and the kids for breakfast while Mike and Sean hit the gym.  That night we got together for a pajama party and a movie (Cars) while the Dad's went to a grown-up movie in the theater.  Sunday we spent the morning at Drumlin farm checking out the animals and of course, the tractor ride.  That night we hung out at the house, went for ice cream and played outside.  Monday morning Mikey and I went back to the hotel to say goodbye to our best friends from New Jersey.

Thank you so much for making the trip, Casey family!  We loved having you here and can't wait to see you in New Jersey in a few weeks!

xoxo

Mikey couldn't wait to hold baby Kevin!  He's getting practice for when he becomes a big brother!

Giddy up!

We had to relocate the baseball game to the front of the apartment since we got surprised with the sprinkler system in the backyard!

Our First Yankee/Red Sox game together

What do you get when your Mom is a Red Sox fan and your Dad is a Yankee fan?  One confused little boy!!

Daddy got tickets from someone at work so we spent the day watching the Red Sox lose to the Yankees (I am NOT having a good track record at Fenway this year---2 losses!).  Daddy's friend, Sean, came with us---whom Mikey just adores.

When we arrived at the stadium we visited Uncle Tom's brick (nearby to a snack bar selling food, beer and ice cream! So appropriate!)

After the game Sean's wife Maryanne and little Abigail came over to our pool for a BBQ.  It was a great day!

July 4th

This was our first time in Boston for the 4th of July in a LONG time.  We didn't have any set plans and just decided to see what the day would bring.  Since it rained in the morning, the option of heading to the beach was axed.  Instead, we went to the pool when the sun came out (around 11).  Then after nap time we headed over to the Lashway's for a spontaneous and fun dinner!  We spent time with Mike's friends from high school (Will and Scott) and the kids had a great time together (5 in all with 2 more on the way!).  When we got back to the house we all snuggled on the couch to watch the fireworks.  Mikey was so insistent on labeling where each of the fireworks shows were located---"Where Uncle Marky lives?!?!" (Washington D.C.), "Where Uncle Timmy lives?" (New York), "Where Mikey lives?!?" (Boston).  And then saying "I've been there!".  Mikey was actually able to "watch" the fireworks on TV this year....but it looked like this:

(One blanket was on his legs while the other was covering his ears and his face---every once in awhile he would peek out and watch!  Baby steps.....)

Happy 4th of July everyone!

Summer Fun

On the weekends we try to get out and do something fun.  Today we decided that it would be fun to go into Boston and check out the Tall Ships and Navy boats that are docked for July 4th.  Oh...and it was predicted to be 94 degrees today.

We did lots of walking, sight-seeing and even toured the USS Constitution in Charlestown.  Mikey needed some time to adjust to the boat (on the first attempt he was scared so we got off and had some lovey time and a goldfish snack to re-group).  On the second attempt he kept saying he was on "Jake's boat" with the cannons, flags, etc.

Although it was HOT and LONG day, we still had a great family day together :)
