Love him!

Mikey had a play date and dinner with his friend Drew tonight.  The following conversation took place while I was in the family room nursing Nicholas:

Adults: "Drew, do you have a girlfriend?"

Drew: "Yes.  Her name is Susan."

Drew's parents: "That is a teacher at his school that we have never met!" (ha!)

Adults: "Mikey, do you have a girlfriend?"

Mikey: "Yes, my Mommy!"

Dear Mikey,

I hope I'm still your girlfriend years and years from now......I LOVE YOU!!

Love Always, Your Mommy

11 Weeks!

Someone is already moving in to "big boy" territory:

This baby boy rolled over onto his left side today!!

Nicholas is growing way too fast!  He is quickly transitioning out of his 0-3 month clothes (and size 3 Carter's clothes) and moving into the 3-6 month collection.  Nicholas loves "eating" his hands and holding them together.  He "talks" to his animals on the playmat and infant seat.  He grabs the hanging animals on the mat and tries to bring them to his mouth!  The other day at baby group he tucked his legs under and did a scooting/catepillar type move pushing himself forward while doing tummy time!

We had three great nights of sleep last week--only waking at 3am after going to bed around 11 and then again at 7.  Now we are in another phase of waking at 3 and then 4 and 5 and 6.  I think he may be going through a growth spurt as he is nursing more frequently.  He has stopped pooping in EVERY diaper and just saves it for one big blow-out that requires a full bath and new clothes 1-2 times a day!

Feels like summer!

Maybe not......but at least it isn't bitter cold!

Today it was in the mid-40s and actually felt warm!  (Gasp!  I can't believe I am saying that!)  We decided to spend the afternoon outside.  Mikey was able to enjoy his bikes and scooter while Nicholas slept in the infant carrier.  We still have some time to go before spring rolls around but it was definitely a nice taste of what is to come in the near future!  I know we are going to be spending A LOT of time outside once we are able!

Oh--and as a side note--if anyone has a tactful way of asking my neighbor to not let his dog poop on our driveway and lawn, I would love any suggestions.  It's messy and GROSS (and I have an active little boy that will be covered in it if he isn't paying attention)!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!  We hope everyone enjoys their day with the people they love!  We did!

xoxo

The Scialabbas

Nicholas in his Valentine's Day outfit that lasted about an hour before a messy blow-out occurred sending the entire outfit to the washing machine!

Mikey and Nicholas were spoiled as usual.  Nicholas got books from Mommy & Daddy and Granma & Bob as well as a teddy bear from Eva.  Mikey came home from Eva's to balloons at the table, Cars chocolates, a book and stickers from Granma and a book from Mommy and Daddy--as well as cards from  his grandparents and Great-grandparents.  He also opened the movie, Peter Pan which he was THRILLED about.  He shrieked when he opened it and said, "PETER PAN!!  Can I watch it now? Please Mommy and Daddy.  Pleeeeeeeeeease?!?!?".

The following day this is what he looked like:

He pretended to be flying to Neverland around the house.  I was lucky I was able to get him out of his costume to go to My Gym.  That would have been quite the sight!  Halloween in February anyone?!?!

Mommy got spoiled as well.  My boys got me multi-colored roses, chocoloate covered strawberries and tickets to see Bon Jovi in July!  :)

Margeaux

Back in December our health insurance changed which meant we had to say goodbye to Mikey's speech pathologist, Margeaux.  We were all really bummed about it.  Mikey enjoyed going to speech and participating in all the fun activities and games Margeaux presented to get him talking ("rocket ship" was his favorite).  What she was doing (and had us follow through on at home) was definitely working because we soon found ourselves saying "Mikey, be quiet!".  Unfortunately Mikey wasn't ready to be discharged but our insurance plan doesn't cover this speech facility---or any other facility in the nearby area--so we had to end our services.

Currently we are on a wait list for the one private speech pathologist that does accept Tufts insurance and I also submitted paperwork for the Wellesley Public Schools to evaluate Mikey as well.  We are still hoping to get more lengthy sentences from Mikey as well as help with his articulation.  He tends to speak in short phrases and also uses a lot of blanket terms instead of more specific language ("this", "that", "there", etc.).  We'll see what happens! (I also dropped the ball on signing Mikey up for preschools for the fall.  I knew I needed to do it in December but got a bit distracted and now all the schools have wait lists!  Ugh!)

I have been wanting to post some funny conversations with Mikey.  Here are some good ones:

While sitting at the table for breakfast:

Mikey: I want a banana for breakfast.
Me: We don't have anymore bananas.  You can have strawberries or blueberries.  Which would you like?
Mikey: Mmmmmm....banana.

After watching the Calvin Klein underwear commercial during the Super Bowl:

Alli to Michael: Now, does that commercial make you want to buy CK underwear?
Michael: (shakes his head no)
Me (very enthusiastically): It makes ME want to buy CK underwear!
Mikey: ME TOO!!

2 months

Here are the results from the 2 month check-up:

Height: 22.5"

Weight: 12 lb 2.7 oz

Head Circumference: 37.8 cm

Shots: DTaP/Hep B/IPV vaccine & HFLU B Conj along with an oral dose of the rotavirus vaccine (I declined the third shot and we will go back next week to get that.  There is only so many times they can prick my baby in one sitting.....)

Nicholas gagged on the rotavirus liquid (as he does his Vitamin D drops) and slept a good portion of the afternoon.  There was nothing I could do to wake him--and we were at our baby group at work!  There were lights, voices, I took him out of his car seat and changed his positions---nothing made this little boy stir---until it was time to eat!  I gave him a dose of Tylenol when we got home at 4:45 and then another before bed around 9.  I'm not sure if it is coincidence or not but he also had his longest sleep last night---6 HOURS!!  He ate and went to bed at 11:45 (he was placed in his cradle quiet & awake), fell asleep on his own and then woke up again at 5:30!!!  At one point during the night I woke up and put my finger under his nose just to make sure he was still breathing!!  I'm so curious to see if this will be a new pattern!

Otherwise, the big 2 month old is doing great!  He is getting lots of attention from big brother Mikey---including a free "lift"!  I was putting clothes away in Mikey's room and Mikey came walking into his bedroom carrying Nicholas!  My blood pressure is still high and it happened days ago!  Nicholas' eyes were bugging out of his head but Mikey was so proud to "help" and didn't want Nicholas to feel left out (he was hanging out on the floor outside the bathroom--his usual spot when Mikey has a bath and Mommy is the only one home!).

This weekend we will venture out of the state for our first day trip.  My cousin Michelle had a baby (Annabelle) and Saturday is her christening in Connecticut.  Nicholas typically sleeps whenever he is in the car when we drive around town.  I'm hoping this trip will be no different!

And on that note, Welcome February!  Only a few months left of winter and 1 month until Mikey's 4th Birthday!
