Hello??
My favorite "new" thing of the week (end of April): Mikey is now holding the phone up to his ear and chatting away!! Other times it's not even the phone but a crayon, food, a ball......

These shoes are made for walking......
Yesterday (April 22) Mikey and I headed to Stride Rite for his first pair of "real" shoes. After the salesgirl put them on and Mikey stood up, I got all teary eyed! My baby boy is growing up! Look at these shoes!!! I took him to the playspace next door so he could break them in a bit. He gravitated towards the ducks. I wasn't able to get a good shot with his face since he was so distracted by the toys and other children.
Look at our big boy!

I couldn't resist putting this one in. He had to kiss the duck!

As for the status of his walking, Mikey is very quick at crawling and cruising along the furniture. Every day he is standing unsupported for longer periods of time. He practically runs when you hold his hands while he "walks". I'm excited to see him take his first step......but I'm not rushing anything!

Mikey and Mommy time
I count my blessings every day that I am fortunate enough to be able to stay at home with Mikey. I love watching Mikey learn and grow each and every minute! Now that springtime is here I started doing some research on outdoor activites we can participate in. I found a farm that is 4 miles down the road and so on April 15th, Mikey had his first trip to the farm. It was a cool and windy day but we both had a great time. The highlight of the trip was seeing baby lambs that were 2 days old. Mikey did lots of pointing and screaching (his way of expressing his excitement and joy!). Below is a picture of the 2 of us together with Mommy's favorite farm animal. (The picture is awful but that's what happens when we go by ourselves!)

Mikey also experienced his first Boston marathon in person this year. (Last year he celebrated the same way he celebrated Easter! Zzzzzz.......) We watched the marathon along Commonwealth Avenue in Newton and then barbequed with our friends, the Frost family. Even though the Red Sox lost, it was a very fun day!

Easter and Opening Day
This is how Mikey celebrated Easter last year:

This year was A LOT more fun! He took part in opening his Easter baskets and cards,

playing with the Easter grass (tickle, tickle!),

and meeting Mr. E. Bunny himself!

And Mommy and Daddy got to enjoy the first game of the baseball season with a Red Sox win!

And a special thanks to Grandma Anita and Grandpa Bob for sharing Easter with us! We had a great time!

Let's give this a shot....
I was never a big picture taker and since March 1, 2009 we have collected over 2,000! Each month I would send out monthly pictures of what our "little boy" has been doing, eating, visiting with, etc. That all ends now!
For two years I have been enjoying Amy's blog (my former next "dorm" neighbor, fellow RA and OT classmate), and she has convinced me to follow in her footsteps. After an informative tutoring session from the creative, super-mom herself, I am giving it a try.
Tonight I'm going to start easy with a picture marking Mikey's 1st birthday!
