Weekend Update

What a fun weekend! Since we were laying low here in Boston, Mike and I decided to hit the road on a day trip. We ended up in Newburyport, MA and fell in love! We had such a great time. First we started at the beach----only lasting an hour due to our impromptu decision and not really being prepared for the beach. The water was FREEZING and Mikey was starving so it wasn't a leisurely visit, but it was still nice to dig our toes into the HOT sand and take in some sun. After the beach we headed to downtown Newburyport and ate lunch at Michael's Harborside restaurant (yum-o). Mikey was in love with our waitress. Every time she walked by the table he would reach his hand out and have to hold her hand!! What a little flirt! (We're thinking he gets this from his Great-Grandpa Angelo!!!) In desperate need of a walk following lunch (we were STUFFED), we walked around the town admiring all the different shops and ended up eating gelato before heading home. It was a wonderful day!

Today we went to the Heritage Museum in Lexington to see the Jim Henson exhibit produced by the Smithsonian. It was geared more for adults than children (we received disapproving looks as Mikey banged on the glass exhibits containing some of his favorite characters---Bert and Ernie especially). Oh well. It was fun for Mommy and Daddy!

Father's Day weekend in QBY

Here are a few shots from Father's Day weekend at Mimi and Grandpa's house in New York:

Mikey was spending some quality time with his roommate, Uncle Timmy, before he leaves for work

We practically spent the entire weekend outside since it was so beautiful! Mikey shared his time between the "big" pool and his baby pool. He loved the elephant fountain and even began to tolerate being on the grass!

Mikey and Rudy really bonded this weekend. By Sunday, Mikey was picking Rudy's nose and climbing all over him. And Rudy loved every minute of it!

Dear Daddy,

I love spending time with you, especially on Mondays on "Daddy and Mikey day". We do such cool stuff like watch TV, go for walks, play fun games (such as spitting blocks out of our mouths and reaching up high to touch the hall lights) and take naps on the couch together. As fun as all those things are they are even more special because I do them with YOU.

Thanks for being the best Daddy!

I love you,

Mikey (& Mommy, too!)

Here are the first few steps I was able to capture on camera. I apologize for you having to view it sideways. Mikey now walks in short distances for a few steps prior to crashing down or assuming his fast crawling position. It's crazy to see him do his "Frankenstein" walk (coined by Daddy).

To my little boy:

You amaze me everyday in what you know and take in around you. Here are two examples:

1) Friday night at dinner I thought I would randomly ask you to show us some of your body parts. I asked you "Mikey, where's your head?" and you tapped your head. "Where are your eyes?" and you covered your eyes. "Where is your nose?" and you put your fingers between your lips and your nose---we gave you credit because you were close and so darn cute! "Where is your mouth" and you put your fingers in your mouth! SO SMART!!!

2) Last night we were in your room. You pointed to your baseball hat on the wall and then tapped your head. When I gave you the hat you were SO excited and put in on yourself!

3) Today at My Gym you rubbed your hands together and then pointed to the antibacterial lotion on the counter. You have NEVER "asked" to wash your hands before today!

Daddy and I have really noticed that you are understanding and taking everything in around you---even if you aren't using words to communicate back with us. We love you and are enjoying minute of you growing up! Please slow down a little bit---we feel it's going too fast!

Love you lots,
Mommy & Daddy
xoxo

Also as a side note Mikey took 4 steps at Brie's house during our playdate yesterday! He had lots of practice as he tried to keep up with his girlfriend, Molly! When we got home we had a repeat performance (times two!) when he took a few steps in his room to get his books! Yay!

Playdate with Chloe

Today we got together with Lexie and Chloe. Lexi and I first met at our childbirth class last January and then met up at the hospital as neighbors a month later! Chloe and Mikey are 2 days apart! Today we headed to an indoor playspace in West Roxbury and the kids had a blast! They were too busy exploring the place that they weren't able to sit together long enough to take a picture. Next time.....
We had a great day, ladies! Looking forward to seeing you again soon!

15 Months

Mikey is now 15 months old. Currently he is doing the following:

-Finger feeding himself fruit, veggies, pasta and breads;

-Attempting to feed himself with a spoon (does so but its VERY messy!)--applesauce, yogurt; He lets Mommy spoon feed him chicken soup (he now eats the chicken too!);

-Favorite toys this month include: musical star stacker, guitar, swinging his Yankee baseball bat, nesting cups and tossing balls around (sometimes its a forward motion and sometimes he throws them backwards over his shoulder);

-He says "no-no-no-no-no" in a bratty, whiny way (lucky us) and thinks that all animals say "bark!"; when we turn the lights on he says "ahhh" (for "on");

-He is cruising around the apartment but will drop down when he runs out of support. He will walk with one and two hands held.
