Memorial Day weekend

We were able to squeeze in a long weekend with Mimi, Grandpa and Uncle Timmy up in New York this weekend since Daddy also had a conference to attend. We were able to spend Wednesday night though Sunday up in Queensbury. The weather was beautiful and we had a lot of fun!

On Monday, we spent the day exploring the North Shore looking at homes, finding a great beach spot (thanks, Leah!) and finishing up at the Lobster Pool in Rockport. It was a fun family day!

"Hurry, Hurry Drive the Firetruck"

While waiting to meet up with friends in Boston on Saturday afternoon, we walked Mikey over to the nearby fire station. This fire station is the oldest running commission fire station in the United States. A friendly fireman, Sean, greeted us as we approached the fire truck. Mikey immediately went to him as he received a full tour of the truck, equipment, and even the sliding pole! Mikey was in awe.....just taking everything in around him. He kept saying "deet" ("light") and pointing to the trucks. When Mikey sat in the truck, Sean had turned the lights of the truck on. That was by far the highlight of the visit for Mikey!

Thanks, Sean! We will be back to visit again soon!

Happy Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day with my family! After watching the Celtics "beat the Heat" on Saturday night, Sunday morning we had a nice breakfast and relaxed.

After naptime we walked around Boston for the day. We started with riding the Swan boats in the Public Garden (the first time for all three of us!) and admiring the beautiful tulips and trees in bloom. We finished up in the North End for a delicious Italian feast.

Thank you for a very special weekend, Michael and Mikey! I love you MUCHO! xo

To My Dear Mikey--I really love the colorful tulips you got me (orange, purple and pink!) as well as the coaster you painted. I am so happy and proud to be your Mommy! I LOVE YOU!

Ask and you shall receive......

At the beginning of May when the Boston Celtics/Miami Heat playoff schedule was announced I noticed that Game 3 was going to be played on a Saturday night here in Boston. I mentioned to Mike that we should go. Neither one of us had been to a Celtics game.

I asked and my husband delivered.

Mike got us tickets.....IN A SUITE!

We had a great time AND the Celtics won! We were so excited to see so many future Basketball Hall of Fame members on the same court---Pierce, KG, "Ray-Ray" Allen, Shaq, Rondo (especially after playing with one arm in the second half! A-MAZING!), LeBron James and Dwayne Wade.

And that was the just the start of my Mother's Day celebration......

Easter Fun

Before our trip to Florida we celebrated Easter with Auntie and Uncle Scott in Manalapan. Here's Mikey, his BFF Scott and a "bunny" cake.

On Easter Sunday we were lucky enough to spend the holiday with Grandma and Grandpa Ecker, Mimi and Grandpa Scialabba, and Uncle Mark! Mikey spent the morning opening his Easter basket, hunting for eggs and then we headed over to the Boston College Club for brunch.

I can't believe this is Mikey's THIRD Easter basket!

The Easter Bunny must have known that April was Occupational Therapy Month! All of Mikey's treats were fine motor oriented----"truck" utensils, books, and a peg and pegboard set!!

And he also met the Easter Bunny!

What a fun Easter!

Boy was our little boy tired......instead of going to bed, he chose to sleep like this:

Love him.

Florida trip: April 2011

I cannot believe it has been so long since I have posted ANYTHING on the blog! We had an amazing time in Florida and since we have been back it has been non-stop BUSY around here!

Let's re-cap Florida:

The weather was in the high 80s and low 90s every day with on and off clouds. We had perfect beach weather! Mikey LOVED being outside. The first day we were there we went for a walk and played at the playground. Mikey had more fun playing in the wood chips and getting messy than he did playing on the equipment! (He had 2 baths a day!!) On Tuesday and Wednesday we were at the beach for three hours both days. You would never even know that Mikey was there! He totally occupied himself with his beach truck and digging tools that Aunt Diane bought for him. He also enjoyed splashing in the ocean and finding shells.

Every night after a delicious dinner (courtesy of my grandparents), Mikey loved running around on the patio playing ball, talking to the birds and watching for airplanes. He was so happy and content---no tantrums or other two-year-old behaviors were exhibited on the entire trip!

It was so nice to peel off some layers of clothing when we got to Florida--it was in the 30s in Philly when we left on Sunday morning. So when we got to Aunt Diane's house I changed Mikey from sweatpants into shorts. You could tell he felt funny as he kept feeling his legs looking for the rest of his pants. He also walked around the house barefoot and was exploring all of the different textures of the house with his feet very cautiously---the carpet, ceramic tile, welcome mat, etc.

Mikey was excellent on both airplane trips. On the way down it was light out (we took off at 8:45am) and Mikey did not want to miss a thing. I had more than enough to keep him occupied for the 2 1/2 hour flight but the thing he loved to do the most was unhook the tray and re-hook it with his feet! What a talent! On the way back to Boston Mikey was awake long enough to place his order with the flight attendant for "juice" and then fell asleep. Both times when we landed and pulled into the gate, Mikey looked at Mom and I and said (and signed) "more" repeatedly.

Here are some pictures from our stay:

Day 1: Enjoying his cannoli

Spending quality time with Uncle Armand

When Mikey needed a break he went into "The Cave" (Uncle Tom's "man cave") to watch Elmo. Guaranteed this was the first time Sesame Street was ever watched in the Man Cave!

Relaxing at the pool before we headed back to Boston

We owe a very big thank you to Aunt Diane, Grandma and Grandpa Tulumello, and Uncle Armand for a wonderful visit! Another big thanks to Grandma Anita for all of her help with Mommy and Mikey over the week----I never could have done this by myself!

We love you all! xoxo

Tantrum Part 2

So the public tantruming wasn't just a one day thing.

It carried over to My Gym yesterday, too.

For 30 minutes straight.

Not cool.

I'm really hoping Mikey gets this out of his system before our flight on Sunday morning.

Maybe I should stock up on ear plugs for the nearby passengers?!?!?
