Touch-A-Truck

While Daddy went to work on Saturday morning, Mikey and I went to a Touch-A-Truck event in Needham.  It was held at a park and all different types of town vehicles/trucks were available to play in.  Horns were loudly honking, lights were flashing, you get the point.  It was a fun day!

Happy Mother's Day!

For the weekend of Mother's Day we made the trip to Queensbury to spend time with Michael's family. Both of Mike's brothers were home as well as Timmy's girlfriend, Emily.

Here are the highlights of the weekend: Mimi and Grandpa are putting an addition on the back of the house. When we arrived a HUGE digger truck was in the backyard along with lots of sand and dirt. Mikey was in heaven! He loved "driving" the truck as well as digging in the dirt.  We had a wonderful Mother's Day/Uncle Timmy's birthday dinner at a restaurant (outside!) in Saratoga Springs.  Sunday we spent the day relaxing and enjoying the beautiful weather before heading back to Massachusetts.

Thanks for a great weekend everyone!

Three Year Check-Up

Here's the latest stats on Mikey:

Height: 38.75" (71st percentile)

Weight: 33 lb 4 oz (60th percentile)

Mikey was a show off for the doctor.  He told her the different tools on the wall were for his ears and eyes, he demonstrated how to put his clothes on (since he did NOT want to be undressed),  and was cooperative with everything she needed him to do.  He even participated in a vision screening---I was impressed.  Then he had to go to the lab for blood work.  He sat on Daddy's lap, let the technicians sterilize his arm and tie the band.  He didn't cry until after he saw the needle go in his arm.  5 seconds later he was done, stopped crying, had lovey in hand,  and walked out with 2 Handy Manny stickers.  What a champ!  Hopefully no more doctor appointments for Mikey until next year!  Stay healthy, buddy!

The Prince of Waltham

My parents have always had a tendency to call Mikey "The Prince".  When they were here in April they extended their nickname to "Mikey, The Prince of Waltham".  Whatever the "Prince of Waltham" wanted, Grandma and Grandpa did for him in a heartbeat.

The other night at dinner I was quizzing Mikey with some simple questions before his pediatrician appointment in the morning (you know, just in case she asked, I wanted to make sure we were prepared).

Me: "What is your name?"
Mikey: "Mikey A-ba-ba"

Me: "How old are you?"
Mikey" "Four" (the answer he ALWAYS gives)
Me: "No, you're THREE!"
Mikey: "THREE!"

Me: "What town do you live in?"
Mikey: (blank stare)
Me: "We live in Waltham"
Mikey: "Mikey is the PRINCE OF WALTHAM!"

What have we started?!?!?!

Making progress....

1) Mikey has been a NON-STOP motor mouth!  Between his body and his mouth we don't know which is moving more these days!  He is talking ALL THE TIME.  For the most part we know what he is saying and he is hysterical!  His favorite phrase is "I don't know" and he asked his first question on his own this week "Mommy, what doing?";

2) Mikey's new favorite activity is dressing himself.  He loves to take off his clothes and put on shorts.  We are working on him getting the pants on correctly---he likes to put 2 feet in one hole and hop around!;

3) We are officially a week in underwear without an accident!  He is still not telling me when he needs to go but willingly walks down the hall when I take him to the bathroom.  He is still pooping at some crazy early hour so for now he is just peeing on the potty.  (Sorry for the specifics but again, this IS Mikey's baby book!)

Day At The Farm

It is so much fun to take Mikey back to Drumlin Farm every year and see a new and different perspective on things. This year we actually were able to talk about the animals that we would see beforehand and Mikey also remembered the "tractor ride". I brought the stroller since it was quite a distance from the car but overall, Mikey spent a majority of the time walking by himself and being a big boy. We saw all the animals, caught the tractor ride and had a picnic lunch on the rocks out front of the farm. The weather was in the high sixties with no clouds and gorgeous sun. It was a perfect Mommy and Mikey day!

All smiles on the tractor ride

Right after I snapped this picture I realized that Mikey had a pee-ing accident. Good thing I brought that extra pair of clothes with me! He had been accident free for a few days but I guess he was distracted!

Happy boy digging in the dirt

**I think I am noticing a trend here as being the parent of a boy. It seems like after every outing we are coming home and I am giving Mikey a bath! He was COVERED in dirt!

**Potty training update: Grandma assisted in the potty training last week since Mikey was pretty much refusing to do it with me during the day. Mikey and Grandma had made a pact that if M had to go potty, he would tell Grandma. Mikey wore "big kid pants" the whole 3 days she was with us and M barely had an accident. This week at Eva's house Mikey had NO accidents. Naturally, I kept the trend going today at the farm but our track record got tarnished due to distractions. I'd say overall potty training is off to a good start!

Marathon Monday

Marathon Monday is my favorite day in Boston. This year it was 92 degrees and not very pleasant for those running. We weren't all that comfortable and we were NOT running!

Mikey and I convinced Daddy to take some time away from work so we could catch the marathon for a bit. We took the train from Daddy's office in Newton. Mikey was so bummed that we were only on the train for two stops. He kept saying "do it again!". Mikey had a great time cheering on the runners and told me he wanted to "run, run". After some marathon viewing on Commonwealth Avenue and Centre Street (mile marker 20), we hit up the playground for a bit (most of the equipment was too hot to enjoy) and then cooled off with some ice cream.

"Run, Run!"

And thank goodness for air conditioning. I turned that machine on as soon as we got home!! This time last week Mikey was at the Zoo wearing his winter jacket! This has been the craziest year for weather BY FAR!
